These offices are divided into two categories including regional passport offices and executive passport offices while DGIP head office is located in the capital city. Step-Wise Guide for Passport Application Process in Pakistan

When applying for a passport in Pakistan, you will have to visit one of the nearest offices and report to the following counters:

Types of Pakistani Passport

Under the Passport Act 1947, there are three kinds of Pakistani Passports:

  • Ordinary Passports: used by common citizens
  • Diplomatic Passports: used by diplomats (representatives of Pakistan). It has a red cover.
  • Official Passports: issued to government officials. It has a blue cover.

Documents required for issuance and renewal of passport

The documents one requires for issuance [both adults and minors] and renewal are different.

For Adults

If you are 18 years of age or above, you need to take the following documents with you.

  • 2 photocopies of CNIC or NICOP
  • Bank receipt of the fee deposit
  • In case of dual nationality, the foreign passport and its copy
  • If an employee of the government, an NO (no-objection certificate)
  • The original CNIC or its NICOP

For Minors

For citizens under the of 18, the necessary documents are:

  • 2 photo copies of birth certificate, issued by NADRA
  • 2 photo copies of parent’s CNIC
  • Bank receipt of the fee deposit
  • Computerised CRC (Children Registration Certificate) issued by NADRA
  • Foreign passport and its copy (in case of dual nationality)

For Passport Renewal

For the individuals who wish to get their passport renewed, they should make sure they keep the following documents with them:

  • Bank receipt of the renewal fee deposit
  • Original CNIC or CRC (for minors)
  • Old passport and its copy

Passport Stolen/ Lost

In case of your passport being stolen or lost, you can reapply for a machine readable passport by following some simple steps:

  • File a report in the nearest police station
  • Submit the fee required according to the times your passport has been lost.

In case your passport has been lost three times, your case will be referred to the DGIP Pakistan.

  • You need to take the following documents with you;
  • Photocopy of the old passport
  • A copy of your CNIC

A new passport will be issued after verification of the previous passport from the concerned authorities, thus it might take a long time, a month or even more.

Charges and Validity

Fee Structure
Charges for the Passports vary according to the validity and urgency.

There are certain criteria, according to which, the fee for the passport is decided.

  • Number of pages in a passport
  • Years of validity
  • Normal or urgent 

The passport for minors will have the validity of 5 years only.

The normal passport can be collected in 15 days, while the urgent passport arrives in 4 days.
