Planning to travel abroad? Get your travel checklist ready. The first thing on your list must be a passport. Your passport acts as a part of your identity, outside of your country of origin. Without it you can neither leave a country nor enter it.
If you are travelling abroad, you will need to visit the passport offices in Karachi to get your passport made or renewed. We have compiled a list of all the passport offices in Karachi, to make it easy for you to decide where you need to visit, along with information about the documents one needs to bring and much more.

Passport Application Requirements
Your trip to the passport office would be a waste if you don’t have all the necessary documents that one requires. The documents one requires for issuance of both adults and minors, as well as that of renewal of passport are different.
For Adults
For individuals above 18 years of age, you will be required to submit the following documents:
- Original CNIC or NICOP
- 2 photocopies of CNIC or NICOP
- Bank receipt of the fee deposit
- Foreign passport and its copy (if you have dual nationality)
- NOC (No-Objection Certificate) for government employees
For Minors
If you are under the age of 18, you will need to bring with you the following document:
- 2 photocopies of your birth certificate
- 2 photocopies of your parent’s CNIC
- Bank receipt of the fee deposit
- CRC (Child Registration Certificate)
- Foreign passport and its copy (if you have dual nationality)
For Renewal
For the individuals who wish to get their passport renewed, need to take the following documents with them:
- Bank receipt of the renewal fee deposit
- Original CNIC or CRC (for minors)
- Old passport and its copy

Procedure for Passport Application, and Collection
Passport Application
After you have gathered all your documents in one place, it’s a fairly simple and easy process. We have broken down the entire process of e-passport Pakistan application
- Step 1: Submit the passport renewal fee or the passport challan fee (depending on the situation) at the National Bank Counter.
After submitting the fee, you can collect the passport form, from the customer service counter. - Step 2: Move to the token counter, where your picture will be taken and you will be issued a token.
- Step 3: The next step includes you submitting your digital profile, that is, your fingerprints.
- Step 4: At this counter, you will be asked to fill in your data.
In the case of passport renewal, your information will already be filled, but make sure to recheck all the spellings. - Step 5: Your profile will be verified, and cross checked with the ECL (Exit Control List) and BL (Black list).
- Step 6: If you have cleared the last step, you will be called for an interview by the Assistant Director of the regional passport office. After which you will be given a tracking number. Using the number you can track the application and the delivery date of your passport.
Passport Collection
You can collect your passport from the office you applied to. Simply provide the receipt you received from the Assistant Director.
You can also get your passport delivered, but you will be charged extra for it.
What to Do if Your Passport is Lost or Stolen?
If your passport got stolen or you lost it, you can reapply for a passport by following these steps:
- File a police report in the nearest station
- Submit the fee according to the situation

Note: If you have managed to lose your passport for the third time, you will be referred to the DGIP Pakistan, before issuance of passport.

Passport Office Timings
Passport offices in Karachi stay closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Monday to Thursday: 09:00 AM – 02:00 PM
Friday: 09:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Note: The timings are subject to change as per the direction of Directorate General Immigration and Passports.
Charges and Validity
Charges for the passport vary according to the validity, urgency and the number of pages in a passport.
Please note a passport for minors is only valid for 5 years.
A normal passport can be collected in 15 days, while the urgent one can be collected in 4 days.
