Online passport renewal services in Pakistan are made available for the applicants living outside the country. We’ve recently shared a guide on how to obtain a passport via our guide on passport offices in Pakistan. This time around, we’ll take a look on how to renew your passport online.
In 2016, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passport announced the e-service portal solely for the process of online passport renewal. It means that the applicants [living outside of the country] don’t need to visit any place and get their passports renewed from the comfort of their couch.
If you’re worrying about the complexity of the process, we are here to guide you.
Let’s get started!
Insight into E-Service Portal
According to the DGIP office, it’s a gateway to reach out to DGIP.
It means, with E-Service Portal, anyone can now receive their renewed passport in a quick and convenient way. You can be anywhere in the world and still apply for the renewal.
As mentioned above, the E-Service Portal can only be used by the citizens who wish to get their passport renewed, and only if the passport is already expired, or will expire in less than 7 months.
Process of Applying for the Passport Renewal
Passport renewal process only takes 16.5 minutes via E-Services Portal. To get started, here’s what you need to do:
- Register on the portal, if you live in Pakistan, your account will be verified using your cell phone number, but if you live abroad, the whole process will be done through email.
- Make the payment, using your Debit, or Credit Card.
- Fill the application form.
Note: Recheck all the spellings.
- Upload all the required documents, your picture and fingertips.
Note: This might be the only tricky part, follow the guidelines given by the DGIP office.
While filling the form, you will need to select the nearest passport office or the nearest embassy. Do not be confused, it would still be an online process, you will only be called for the interview. If you are still confused, don’t worry, there’s an online guide detailing the entire process.
