Overview of HEC Pakistan
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan was previously known as University Grants Commission and it was formed in 1974. The department sought to harmonise higher education issues in the country. It is an autonomous body that oversees the regulation, funding, and accreditation of higher education systems and institutions across every province.
As per the Higher Education Ordinance, 2002, the name of UGC was changed to Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan.

Find HEC Recognised Universities in Pakistan Online

Step 1: Visit the official HEC website.

Step 2: Once you’re on the website, visit the options bar at the corner of the website.
Step 3: Select the option ‘universities’, as shown below, a dropdown menu will appear.

If you wish to see the list of the ‘recognised universities by HEC’ select the option, and you will be directed to a new page.
Step 5: Now, you will see a list of HEC recognised universities across the country.
If you wish to filter out the universities in your region, you can do so by selecting the appropriate options.

- Step 6: Add sector, whether the university you are searching for is private or public. If you wish to search for both options, then leave it on the default selection.
- Step 7: Next, select the respective government from the filter ‘Chartered By’.
- Step 8: If you need to filter the list as per the faculty, choose the discipline (field of study) of your university, such as medicine, engineering, business, or general if the university offers a combination of fields.
- Step 9: For a further filtered list, you can select the province and the city, the university is located in.
