Key Information

Since global warming has sped up, glaciers around the world have started to melt down faster than before. As a result, the sea level is rising at a very high pace and it is an alarming situation for sure. Most of the developed countries are focusing on green activities that contribute to the battle against global warming’s hazardous impacts. Therefore, Pakistan also started taking initiatives for it under the campaign of Clean Green Pakistan.

Clean Green Pakistan was launched on 13 October 2018 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. Its main purpose is to promote healthy and green activities/projects to save the country from the irreversible impact of global warming, which is administered by the Ministry of Climate Change in Pakistan. From a school level to the corporate level, all the elements will be playing their roles to promote the campaign of Clean Green Pakistan.

This campaign also serves the betterment of tourism in Pakistan, which includes, valleys, mountains, rivers, beaches, lakes, forests and historical landmarks’ maintenance. Similarly, the Clean Green Pakistan logo also indicates its message clearly. The way plastic and chemical disposal in the sea is destroying sea life, it can harm more than anyone could imagine. Clean Green Pakistan aims to keep up with the regulations and objectives of WHO (World Health Organization), which can also benefit WWF (World Wildlife Federation) through revamping of forestation in Pakistan. This campaign targets 6 core objectives:

  1. Plantation
  2. Safe Drinking Water
  3. Total Sanitation
  4. Hygiene
  5. Solid Waste Management

Plantation

Plantation
This plantation campaign is the easiest and the simplest one for every individual.

It focuses on seeding and spreading the plants and forestation in Pakistan to fight harmful gases, ultraviolet radiation and high temperature. The greener the land is, the less harmful the impact will be. This feature promotes the implementation of more plant beds and forest preservation all over the country.

In addition, a paperless economy is the main objective where trees will no longer be demolished for the production of papers. The most primary benefit of it is the production of more oxygen and air filtration. You can survive without food and water for a few days but not a moment without oxygen.

Safe Drinking Water

Safe Drinking Water
Water in rural areas is mostly contaminated that causes numerous diseases.

Many countries are still fighting diseases like cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, diarrhoea etc. just because of poor water quality. If your drinking water does not match the safety standards, you are close to the above diseases. Because sooner or later, these diseases will attack through untreated water. That’s why Clean Green Pakistan aims to target this factor for a healthy life.

Total Sanitation

Total Sanitation
Poor sewerage system allows harmful diseases to spread through water and air particles.

This part deals with the waste management system and cleansing from head to toe. Especially personal cleansing because that’s how bacteria enter your body. It can be polio, dengue, malaria, typhoid, and numerous other diseases connected to poor sanitation. Furthermore, you could get tapeworms in your intestine and it can be really agonizing. Have a look at these symptoms and the treatment of dengue fever in Pakistan.

This factor also covers sewerage, rain-water drainage, and liquid management systems in districts, towns and cities. Clean Green Pakistan aims to save people, especially in rural areas where people have less knowledge and facilities for sanitation.

Hygiene

Hygiene
This simple act of hygiene can save you from a lot of diseases around you.

When it comes to hygiene, it covers the usage of toilets, dustbins, and basic cleaning activities to save health and the environment. Clean Green Pakistan targets it to educate people about maintaining basic hygiene at home as well as in parks, restaurants, institutes, and all those places where the public gathering is possible. Solid Waste Management

Solid Waste Management
The toughest challenge for Clean Green Pakistan would be dealing with solid waste.

Here comes the most active discussion in the entire world, which connects to the hazardous impact of plastic. This concept deals with alternates of plastic and all those insoluble elements that are killing sea life and polluting the oceans of the world. Clean Green Pakistan is promoting advanced and safe methods of solid waste management for industrial and domestic users. Furthermore, it focuses on replacing plastic bags with biodegradable bags to decrease water and air pollution.

Besides, there are some Clean and Green Pakistan projects to spread awareness to every district, city, town, school, college, university and most importantly, underdeveloped areas. These projects include; CGPI, CGCP and Coronavirus Awareness. Let’s have a look at them.

CGPI (Clean Green Pakistan Index)

It is a ranking program of districts, cities and towns in terms of hygiene and greenery. The neighbourhood with the most points will have the highest rankings. The Ministry of Climate Change will assess through three months data which will come from the provincial government. It will bring not just points but also recognition to the federal government about that specific high-ranking area.

CGCP (Clean Green Pakistan Champion Program)

Then comes CGCP, which promotes a volunteer system, where individuals can participate to promote Clean Green Pakistan through various activities like plantation, sanitization, Covid-19 awareness, solid waste management, safe drinking water and hygiene. Furthermore, it focuses on schools, colleges and universities to spread awareness about global warming and objectives to meet Clean Green Pakistan.

Clean and Green Pakistan school activities include plantation, domestic cleanliness, hand washing methods, water treatment techniques, and education for biodegradable products usage. It will send the main message to every household through every student. Furthermore, college and university students have the capabilities to become entrepreneurs through powerful ideas and they can help provide ideas and projects for eco-friendly business models.

COVID-19

We all are aware of COVID19 and its consequences. This is why Clean Green Pakistan aims to control the spread of it through awareness to everyone in Pakistan. To spread the message to every district, town and region of Pakistan, volunteers from all over the country are participating to send the message of this programme. It all requires proper sanitization, vaccination and self-quarantine to control this pandemic. After all, awareness is better than cure. The most important one is controlling the spread of false information through social media. Read all about Omicron.
