People’s Bus Service was launched in Karachi by The Foreign Minister and Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on 21 June 2022 (Tuesday). In addition, which will cover several spots and stops in Karachi. Hence, this project is part of the Mass Transit System by the Govt of Sindh. Furthermore, that will replace the old private bus services of the city.
Moreover, few days ago, the Information and Transport Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon addressed the media that old and ramshackle buses won’t be allowed on the roads of Karachi. Thus, our fast and modern BRT services will replace them soon. While talking about improving the transport system of Pakistan. He further said;
“Our priority is to encourage public transport industry in Pakistan as such it would employ bringing improvements in the local mass transport sector “
According to some sources, there are 140 in this phase of the Mass Transit Project by the government. Hence, 130 buses will cover the major routes and stops of Karachi and the other 10 will be used in Larkana. As reported by, Sindh Mass Transit Authority, these buses have the capacity of 30 seats along with 2 seats for the disabled. Hence, it can carry almost 75 people. As per the sources, these buses will be in service 24/7. However, the official announcement regarding the timings is still to come.
People’s Bus Services Routes in Karachi
These buses will operate 7 different routes in Karachi. Similarly, it was suggested by Sindh Mass Transit Authority that these buses are separate from other BRT Services and will cover every local route of Karachi.
