Prime Minister Initiates Swat Expressway Phase-II

Islamabad: Prime Minister, Imran Khan visited the Swat Expressway, and initiated the newly built tunnels. The tunnels run parallel to the expressway, for about 80 kilometers, from Chakdara to Fatehpur.

Mr. Mahmood Khan, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pak tunkwa (KPK) and Mr. Murad Saeed, Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services were also in attendance.

The director general of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), guided the Prime Minister about the Swat Expressway phase-II. The three newly built tunnels of 1,266, 271 and 324 meters length. The expressway also consists of seven interchanges.

As the tweet reads, the Prime Minister did not only inaugurate this project, he also visited the site of construction tunnels.

The Swat Expressway Phase-I, previously turned out to be a blessing for the people of KPK, as it reduced the traffic mess on the busy roads of the province. The expressway has opened the area of Malakand to business and tourism. The project has proved to be a huge success, reducing not only the cost of transportation for the citizens, but also reduced the number of accidents on the road. 

The ECNEC has approved acquisition of 10,000 kanal of land for the Phase-II of the Swat Expressway. The estimated cost of the project is PKR 37 billion for construction and PKR 20 billion for the acquisition of the land.
