Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has announced a plan for the rehabilitation of the Bara River Water Supply Scheme. The announcement was reported after the meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department and Line Department.
As per the public details, the participants at the sessions also constituted a committee consisting of four-members that would draft a preliminary study and feasibility plan for the now defunct Bara River Water Supply Scheme. The Public Health Engineering Department and the Line Department will work in close collaboration on the afore-mentioned project.
Earlier, Shah Farman, the KP Governor, directed the concerned officials to address the issue of the river contamination and decreasing water levels in Peshawar. The governor in an official statement has highlighted the importance of the water supply scheme. The initiative is said to be cost-effective since the project will not require excessive use of tube-wells or any other kind of water-pulling equipment.
