Hajj 2022: Pilgrims Arrive in Mina

Pilgrims Arrived in Mina for the Hajj 2022

On the 7th of July, 2022, around a million pilgrims from Masjid al-Haram arrived in Mina. It is also known as “the city of tents”. Before arriving here, they have completed the initial step, which is Tawwaf al-Quddum. Once they complete this step, they will move toward Mount Arafat to listen to the sermon of Hajj 2022. This is the sermon, which is also in a Quranic verse, Surah al-Maidah. Due to this day’s significance, it is one of the most substantial days in the Islamic calendar.

Besides, all Muslims around the world observe fasts to make atonement for their sins. Moreover, people do charity work and perform prayers to have greater rewards as compared to regular days. The reason is the first ten days of the last Islamic month, Dhul-Hijjah, are the most crucial. The reason is that all the Muslims can perform all the pillars of Islam together these days. To illustrate, Shahadah (faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (charity), Sawm (fast), and Hajj (pilgrimage). However, the month of Ramadan is the month when Muslims engage themselves in religious activities with diligence and consistency. However, the only pillar missing in that month is Hajj.

After this, they will head towards Jamrat al-Aqabah, the place where they will strike with seven pebbles. Likewise, it is one of the crucial activities of pilgrimage and this will lead them to perform animal sacrifice. All of this part will take place on the third day of Hajj, which is also the day of Eid ul Adha. Furthermore, this is also the first Hajj for non-nationals since the outbreak of the epidemic, COVID-19.
