Rawalpindi: The final alignment of the 65 kilometer route of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) has been shared by the Punjab Government and the project is likely to start in the month of May or June. The project is being developed under the Planning and Development Board’s Public – Private Partnership Model.
According to official reports, the road will start from Radio Pakistan on National Highway N-5, and merge with the Margalla Road in Islamabad near Sangjani, while intersecting Motorway M-2.

The venture will be developed with a median strip and shoulders in three segments:
- First Segment: It will start from N-5 to the DI Hakla six-lane carriageway with 3 lanes on each side.
- Second Segment: This segment will stretch from DI Hakla to the M-1 two plus two roads running parallel to the existing motorway.
- Third Segment: It will run from the M-1 to the Sanjani six-lane dual carriageway with 3 lanes on each side.
Furthermore, research has been conducted for the development of the RRR project. These designs will be shared with the potential bidders.
With the development of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, the government aims to reduce the time taken to travel from Radio Pakistan to Sangjani through the GT road.
