The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), quite recently, has made it mandatory for all the mobile phone users to check and online register their cellular devices with the authority. In case you are using a device that isn’t registered PTA mobile registration portal, then your device have very high chances of getting blocked by the authority.
Similar to our recent post on PTA IMEI check, we are back with yet another guide. This time, we will tell you how to register your mobile phone with the PTA Mobile Registration portal.
In this blog, we will give you a simple guide to register your mobile with PTA online. We will also discuss some essential information on how you can get the task done by visiting any authorised franchise.

Online PTA Mobile Registration

As per the image above, the process of registering your cellular device on the PTA mobile registration portal is pretty simple.
First, you’ll need to navigate to the official online portal for DIRBS. Afterwards, they will provide you a step-wise guide on how to register a mobile phone with the PTA online.

- Step 1: Visit the official website of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. On the top-right section of the screen, you will find three options: PTA Home, DRS, and DIRBS FAQs.
Click on DRS that stands for Device Registration System. - Step 2: Now, you will be directed to a login page where you will be required to create an account.
Click on ‘Sign Up’ and you will be redirected to a new page showing a form.
Add your details in the form including official name, email address, CNIC number or NICOP, contact number, and password. Your account will be generated.
Note: In the purpose menu, the option ‘personal/individual for mobile/tablet PCs’ is for individuals who are using their device for regular communication. While business phone users will select ‘commercial’ as the purpose. |
- Step 3: Now, check your email address and click on the verification link that has been sent to you by PTA. You will be redirected to the login page and with a message ‘Account Verified’.
Enter your login details including the username and password for the account that has been just created.
Note: Read the declaration form and sign it by clicking on the ‘Click Here to Register Your Device’ option. |
- Step 4: You will be required to submit an application for a Certificate of Compliance (COC).
As you will scroll down, you will have to enter the user type [Pakistani (Local/International Travellers/Dual Nationality Holder)] or [Foreigner (Travelled on Visa)].
Select your mobile phone operator [Ufone, Zong, Mobilink/Warid, or Telenor] and add your contact number. Enter the phone’s IMEI number(s) and click submit. - Step 5: Now, PTA will respond to your application on both the email address and the contact number as given on the registration form.
The message/email will comprise a unique PSID as well as the details of the duty that needs to be paid.
Note: The amount of the duty varies from phone model. The duty is applied based on its C&F Value in US Dollars. |
- Step 6: You can pay the dues via online banking or ATM.
It can also be paid by visiting the branch of any banks, including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Allied Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB).
Note: The dues should be paid within the seven days of the message. |
- Step 7: The paid dues will be reflected in your PTA account.
The authority will get back to you within 1-3 days for completing the PTA mobile registration process successfully.

PTA Mobile Registration via CMO Mobile Franchise
In case you couldn’t get your phone’s IMEI registered online, you can complete the process by visiting any CMO mobile franchise. You can take look at the list of authorised customer service centres and visit the nearest ones. They will complete the process on your behalf.
Before 20th September 2020, PTA had been registering mobile device registration through walk-ins at their offices. After recent amendments the facility has shifted mobile registration process to customer service centres.
Note: Remember to keep your credentials with you including CNIC, NICOP, passport, and IMEI number(s). |
FAQs on PTA Mobile Registration
There are two ways to check the status of your cell phone.

· Send the 15 digit IMEI code to 8484.
